The Teaching Interpreting Educators and Mentors (TIEM) Center, LLC is committed to excellence and integrity in interpreting education, serving the needs of those interested in the effective preparation of sign language interpreters. This audience includes faculty, free-lance educators, mentors, ASL teachers, and practicing interpreters. We offer a wide-range of services for interpreting educators, mentors and researchers. These include advanced education and professional development opportunities, the design, implementation, and reporting of needs assessments, research support, and evaluation and assessment.
Our experience in the field of interpreting research and education is a strong foundation for the services we provide now. The TIEM Center staff has designed, developed and implemented curricula and courses for the Master Mentor Program, the Master in Education-Interpreting Pedagogy, as well as for numerous educational opportunities for interpreters and interpreter educators. Many of these programs are designed for offering online, to meet the needs of practitioners and educators across the globe. Our expertise in course and program design, as well as in online technology, extends to technical support for online seminars, as well as f2f training and workshops.
Our current projects span a variety of projects, including both national and international initiatives and include the development of an Annotated e-Repository of existing practices and products that will be searchable and accessible to the field. The Annotated e-Repository is intended to support quality educational opportunities for current and prospective interpreters, educators, and mentors. We are also leading the innovative Garbage In = Garbage Out: Source Text Selection for Interpreting Educators.
