The CATIE Center at St. Catherine University (CATIE) was funded by the U.S. Department of Education, Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA, grant #H160A100003) to support skill development for interpreters working with consumers of vocational rehabilitation services. Our region includes the states of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio and Wisconsin.
- Offering intensive training for novice and experienced interpreters and Deaf mentors
- Providing resources and education regarding healthcare interpreting
- Promoting the dissemination and implementation of the Deaf Self-Advocacy Training curriculum developed in the previous grant cycle
- Enhancing dissemination of information about interpreting for Deaf-Blind consumers
- Developing educational resources on video remote interpreting in Vocational Rehabilitation settings
- Serving as a comprehensive regional resource center on effective practices
- Provide educational opportunities based on effective practices
- Serve as a resource center to the region on interpreting, interpreter education and self-advocacy by deaf consumers
- Collaborate with our partners to provide coordinated, cost-effective, non-duplicative programming
